Bryan Sidebottom began his Law Enforcement career in January 1992 with the Lake Jackson Police Department as a Communications Specialist. He graduated from Alvin Police Academy in 1993 and obtained his Basic Peace Officer’s license. He immediately became a Reserve Patrol Officer and in 1995 he became a full-time Patrol Officer with this Department. Assistant Chief Sidebottom became a Motorcycle Officer in 2007; he was promoted to Patrol Corporal in 2010 and to Detective Sergeant later that year. In January 2014, he was promoted to Administrative Lieutenant. Later that year he was also appointed the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Lake Jackson. In October 2021, the city reclassified his position to Assistant Chief of Emergency Operations, due to the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator’s position becoming a full-time position. Assistant Chief Sidebottom has served as a Field Training Officer, a member of the CSIU Team, and a member of the Tactical Team. Assistant Chief Sidebottom has a Master Peace Officer’s license, is a TCOLE Instructor, a FEMA/TDEM Emergency Management Instructor, and has earned his FEMA/TDEM Advanced Professional Series Certificate in Standards of Excellence in Disaster Operations Skills. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration, with a concentration in disaster and emergency management at Sam Houston State University. He earned a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in criminal justice from Midwestern State University, two associate degrees from Brazosport College, and graduated from the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas, Leadership Command College (LEMIT LCC).  Prior to working for the Lake Jackson Police Department, he served several years in the United States Army. He patrolled the East/West German and Czechoslovakian borders during the Cold War with the 2/2 Armored Cavalry Regiment. As a Sergeant, he served as an Army Recruiter in the Brazosport area. He later served in Saudi Arabia and Iraq during Operation Desert Shield/Storm on an M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank with the 1st Cavalry Division. On his off-duty time he enjoys spending time with his family and saltwater fishing.
