[ARCHIVED] Magnolia & Gardenia Street

In order to maintain progress on the street reconstruction projects and in step with the schedules, the contractor will begin preparatory work in the Magnolia and Gardenia Street intersection ahead of the actual pavement reconstruction process of the 800 block of Magnolia.

This move in is being done to advance the work along and layout the ground work for a smoother and safer traffic flow within the intersection for later work.

The work consists of removing the northeast quadrant (863 Magnolia) corner of the intersection and replacing with the new pavement. This replacement process will require the westbound side of Gardenia Street from Cypress to Magnolia be closed on a temporary basis.

The work will be taking place as early as Wednesday, August 27, 2014 and proceed through Tuesday, September 3, 2014 after which the side will reopen to traffic.

This spot street closure will interrupt through travel along Gardenia from Cypress to Magnolia segment that will now be detoured at those locations. The eastbound side of Gardenia will remain open to traffic from Magnolia to Cypress during this short term period.

Directional traffic devices and signage will be erected prior to the closure to guide the travelling public in the safest and least inconvenient manner through the affected neighborhood.

You should not expect the main reconstruction work of this segment of Gardenia to follow any time sooner than originally scheduled, but we will keep you notified when this operation approaches and updates in schedule if any.
