Are there cameras on all Lake Jackson red lights?
No. A study was completed to determine locations where violations were of such volume that the installation was warranted. There are currently four locations in Lake Jackson being monitored electronically.
Can the cameras see into my (car, house, business)?
The cameras are directed and focused to identify the violating vehicle only. There are no photographs taken from the front of the vehicle, and no attempt is made to identify occupants. The cameras are not directed towards homes or businesses.
I thought red light cameras were (unconstitutional, against the law, etc). Why do we have them?
Electronic enforcement of red light violations has come under much scrutiny, but remains a state law and court supported method of suppressing violations. It is only one of several methods used to curb unsafe driving habits, and has proven effective in making our citizens more aware as they approach intersections where these devices are present. Awareness leads to better, safer drivers on Lake Jackson roadways.
