Charter Amendments
The Charter Review Committee meets every odd numbered year. The City of Lake Jackson Charter is studied by the committee and changes are recommended that will keep it current with everyday needs, as well as operating within State and Federal regulations.
Members of the 2010 Charter Review Committee are: Robert Nielsen, Chairman, Cathy Crabtree, Vice Chair, Debra Allen, Glen Korfhage, and Stacey Suazo.
The following proposed charter amendments will be on the ballot May 8, 2010:
Proposition No. 1
Shall the number of consecutive terms a person may be a councilmember and/or the mayor be increased from three (3) to four (4)?

Proposition No. 2
Shall the judge of the municipal court be required to meet the same requirements a person must meet to be eligible vote, such as: be a citizen of the United States; be a resident of the State of Texas; not be a convicted felon, and not be judicially declared mentally incompetent?

Shall the judge of the municipal court be prohibited from holding any other city office or city employment while serving as judge of the municipal court?

Shall the temporary, alternate or relief judge be required to meet the same qualifications as the judge of the municipal court?

Shall the temporary, alternate or relief judge be prohibited from holding any other city office or city employment while serving as the temporary, alternate or relief judge of the municipal court?
