Will Brooks, City Council Position 2
Personal History
Mr. Brooks was born in Pecos, Texas, graduated from Pecos High School in 1967, later attended Durham College in Houston, Texas receiving a diploma and certification in basic Electronics & Radio TV Services and Repair in 1968. After some real life experiences it was shown that Education would be the path for growth. Mr. Brooks graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics and Industrial Education from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas 1972 and has been a Dow Chemical employee for 40 years.  He has been a resident of Lake Jackson since 1972.

Mr. Brooks is married to Alicia, a kindergarten school teacher, they have two grown sons and one grandchild; Will James Brooks II, spouse Meng En, granddaughter Hadassah Eve are full time church planting missionaries for OMF International in Central Thailand.  Princeton Brooks is an Associate Manager for the Enterprise Corporation in the Los Angeles California area.

Community Involvement
Mr. Brooks has been a long time volunteer for the City of Lake Jackson. He coached youth baseball and soccer in the community as his children were growing up.  He was active in the Lake Jackson Jaycee’s, Boy Scouts of America and various booster clubs at Brazoswood High School.  He also has been an active volunteer in the Martin Luther King Celebration Committee, and is also a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Brooks served on the City of Lake Jackson's Traffic Commission from 1992 to 1996 and on the Planning Commission from 1996 to 2008  He was selected by the Lake Jackson City Council to fill the vacancy left by Position 4, and then served as Council member from August 2008 to May 2010. He was appointed Mayor Pro-Tem of Lake Jackson in May 2009. Through a volunteer selection process Mr. Brooks served on the Charter Review Board from 2011 to 2012 and then in 2012 was elected to serve a two year term on City Council.  Mr. Brooks currently serves as liaison to the Traffic Commission.

  • Participated in Texas Southern University School of Technology preparation for its fourth re-accreditation by the National Association of Industrial Technology, spring 1995
  • Member of the Texas Southern University School of Technology (CARES) Community Advisement Recruitment Endowed Scholarships Committee.
  • Received a Certificate of Appreciation from Brazosport Independent School District for working through the Texans for Excellence in Career, Education and Life (TEXCEL) program at A.O. Fleming Elementary School, Freeport, TX and for the Mentoring program
  • Attended and Completed the first Citizen Police Academy class through the Lake Jackson Police Dept. supported by the City of Enchantment, Lake Jackson, Texas – theme: “Better Understanding through Education”.
  • Host Family for Foreign Exchange Students 1997 to 1998
  • Member of Society of Packaging and Handling Engineers, an associate of the National Society of Professional Engineers. Member of (ISA) “International Society and Automation”; past name: “Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society”
