1. Who should complete the vendor registration packet?

Manufacturers, suppliers, consultants, individuals and other vendors wishing to furnish materials, equipment, supplies and services to the City must complete the vendor registration packet in order to do business with the City.

4. Where does the City of Lake Jackson advertise their bids?

The City of Lake Jackson Purchasing Department advertises on the City Web Page and the Facts Newspaper. Law requires that Bids are advertised two times within a fourteen day period in the local newspaper.

5. Does the City have any insurance requirements for service contractors?

The City has established contractor insurance requirements based on service being provided, the associated costs for that service and the risk to the City upon the contractor performing the service.

6. Should sales tax be included in bids or quotations?

The City is exempt from sales tax. Tax exempt certificates will be provided upon initial order with each vendor. Vendors may request updated copies by contacting the Purchasing Department at 979-415-2420.

8. What is a Purchase Order?

The Purchase Order is a binding and formal written agreement between the vendor and the City for the acquisition of specific goods or services as detailed in the description section of the order form. The Purchase Order specifies the billing address and shipping instructions necessary for receipt of the merchandise. All prices and costs associated with the acquisition are detailed on the order. No changes or modifications can be made without specific authorization from Purchasing. Any instructions should be followed carefully to ensure payment.

9. What is Chapter 176 of the Texas Local Goverment Code?

House Bill 914, passed during the 2005 Texas legislative session, became effective January 1, 2006. The bill added a new Chapter 176 to the Texas Local Government Code. Chapter 176 requires certain local government officers and those doing business or seeking to do business with local governmental entities to publicly disclose specified relationships. The new disclosure requirements apply to municipalities, such as the City of Sugar Land, counties, school districts and certain other local governmental entities.
